Your car should go & sound awesome at the pod, what do you think it will be pushing after the de-cat & map?

oh sweet! and dont silence it...hahasonicvanman wrote: The pods guna be a great event, im trying to get some stuff sorted for the pod, de-cat fitted, wont make a massive difference like yours will, just need to add a silencer as its fooking loud & i've gotta spray a couple more bits, add a strut brace, new break hoses & fluid, dont think i can afford new disc & pads before.

its running 270 at the moment, after decats, plenums spacer, remap and all that -wont be much difference as its N/A engine, gonna be about 300, but still better, and remap takes off restrictions in 1st and 2nd gears and few other bits - which makes it even better to drive

Thanks woodskiy! I was thinking next weekend? 16th or 17th? you free?
Chris CW wrote: Im down most weekends at the moment, even though Im suppose to be saving money! Not sure I will be much help, hence why I sent my bits off to Se7en to do my gearbox fluid, brakes, radiator and so on along with the cams - not great when it comes to those bits, thats where my patients finally wears thin <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="

I wont go on the strip at Santa Pod just yet, I want some practice at shakey first <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: -->

Last few weeks were pretty busy for me...where do I start? lol
Firstly massive thanks for help goes to Chris,Woody, Mr & Mrs Priest... oh and that clown with a tractor - JonB. You help, at different stages, was much appreciated!
Ordered some carbon wrap to, originally, wrap my door handles, but then decided against it-as it would peel off quite quick (will get them sprayed at bodyshop at one point). So I wrapped window switch panels
^^ check out cool hair dryer <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="
fitted
Then sh*t started going serious <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="
^^
De-Cats
Y-pipe
Plenum spacer
Carbon bits for the engine bay (engine cover, battery&fluids covers, coolant panel, air intake tube, bonnet gas struts)
New Strut bar
Grounding kit (made it myself, pics below)
Upgraded HID bulbs
Reverse camera
New stick on number plate (put old one slightly wonky, but new one is wrong as last 2 letters wrong way around, so need to re-order)
Velocity stack for airbox
Mishimoto coolant hoses
New nismo badge in black
And all service stuff:
Grooved/Drilled front&rear discs with brembo pads
HEL Braided brake lines
Denso iridium spark plugs
HKS hybrid upgraded panel filter
And not in the pic:
Engine oil/oil filter
Gearbox oil + molyslip
Diff oil
Brke fluid
Clutch fluid
Coolant
So... was bored one night so decided to make a grounding kit. Researched it all few days before regarding cable sizes, earthing point etc, ordered all bits from ebay and off we go
and finished product:)
Then replaced areal with a nicer, flusher fit, stubby one
before
after
Rear,silver/chrome,nismo badge taken off to be replaced with new, black, one
didnt take "after" pic, but there's one below (during remap)
Then it was time to start sotrting out engine bay
Firsty, stripped everything I was gonna change/clean/upgrade
And my living room turned into work shop <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="
Before fitting anything back in, decided to clean/polish plenum cover.
Before
Progress
1st - blast all major crap off with wire brush (Yes, we are cool kids... safety 1st - so 3D glasses came handy <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="
after we finished with wire brushing
Then it was time for sanding it...going from 80grit to finer 2000grit, doing few dry and few wet sands for every type
^^compared to untouched throttle body
And then polish it with few different compounds/wax/polish
Then gave throttle body a quick clean as well, didnt really fancy to mess around it with it <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="
Next thing was air intake. Kept original system, as it was recommended by guys who do remaps on these cars - to avoid heat soak etc.
But fitted carbon fibre intake tube and velocity stack for better airflow + HKS upgraded panel filter
Took whole thing apart, degreased it and gave it a good wash
<!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="
Velocity stack
before
after
& filter
and re-assembled with C/f tube
Then it was time to start putting everything back together incl new bits.
Gas Struts
Fitted custom made,blue,anodized plenum spacer
Fitted plenum cover, grounding kit and air intake
New silicone hoses and strut bar
Engine cover, slam panel/coolant cover/ battery & fluid covers are on
New brakes on
Spark plugs changed
All other fluids/oils got changed as well. So absolutely everything in the car nice, fresh and clean now.
Then rear carbon fibre diffuser arived from US and A
Then it was time for a remap @ Abbey Motorsport. Guys were running for 45 years and mainly specialize in Nissans, so nearly 250miles round trip was worth it
^^ new nismo badge
couple of videos
Sensors he put in the exhaust ruined the sound as were vibrating like mad lol
As standard car was running 277bhp (engine power)
After remap its running 274 at hubs (and around 304 engine power)
Cant remember torque figures. Not only remap gave few more BHP, but it also took restrictions off in 1st 3 gears and been mapped to give more fuel in higher gears/higher revs, to get rid off fuel starvation. Can feel more power now, but nothing major, but car is generally nicer to drive now with no restrictions etc.
Then i decided i didn't like new nismo badge,so took it off, along with "350z" badge. Replaced rear Nissan badge with a black one
Then fitted reverse camera and hooked it up to my HU
Forgot to take a pic of actual camera... It's been specially designed with 350z and other nissans with same rear number plate lights.... so camera replaces one of the light unit, but still has separate compartment for the bulb + sits nice as if its factory fitted (will take a pic tomorrow)
Left to do this week:
Fit new upgraded bulbs
Short Shifter
Bleed brakes
Plans for near and not so near future:
Finish off engine bay with few more alloy/polished cans/bottles, color coded/polished bolts/nuts/washers etc
Tint rear lights slightly darker + tint headlights
Front end respray + boot lid smoothed out
Few carbon bits for the interior
Leather electric heated seats from GT spec 350 or Bride bucket seats
