i dunno if u eva saw what i did too my K&N when i had it lol.. but, u could make a surround for it out of thin sheet metal,, or just try and relocate it down lower if possible, so its not suffering from heat soak, u might not think it make much difference, but when i 1st fitted my K&N i was like woot this is great,, then i put a heat shield rd it and there was a noticeable difference, then i fully enclosed and and yet again noticed better performance, it was just more responsive, personally, if the bloke gave it to u, i would put the standard box and filter back on it until u can afford to invest in BMC or viper, some thing like that, i really carnt stress enough how much of a difference heat soak can make to the feel of the car under acceleration

Cheers for the advice, Im tracking down some bits to relocate it a bit lower in the engine bay!
Now a small update - was fed up of the polished lip getting damage so decided to refurb them completely gloss black over at City Powder Coaters, ready for the winter to try and protect them! Will keep me going til I get round to some newer alloys (low down on my list of things to do!)
Acouple of pics:
They look really dark and slightly lost, put in 'person' they look spot on and dont lose much detail

Looks good Chris! Must admit, all black wheels look tidy. I'm taking mine to city powder coaters, as heard good reviews. Did you get the super gloss black by any chance?

I just asked for gloss black and that was it! Should've I asked for 'Super' gloss black? <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="
" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> I did think I should of got a red flake added too, but after getting them back Im happy as they are, keeping it simple and then putting them out on spacers alittle further

Ah right fair enough. No just looking at their website and it says they now do a 'super' gloss black! May have to give it a go, did you pay £30 a wheel to have tyres removed as well?

Ah cool, will be interesting to see the difference to super gloss black! I got my wheels swapped over and tyres taken off elsewhere but it just added to the running around tbh!

yeah well should be done by trax. you should invest in some poorboys wheel sealant as it will help to keep the gloss and prevent brake dust building up on them. sure bee will guide you in the right direction though.
i've ordered 4 new toyo proxes so thought now would be a good time to have the wheels re-done
